A crash cart is a piece of medical equipment that is used in emergency situations to provide lifesaving treatments to patients who are experiencing cardiac arrest or other life-threatening conditions. It is also commonly referred to as a code cart, emergency cart, or resuscitation cart.

The crash cart typically contains various medications, supplies, and equipment that may be needed in an emergency, including:

Defibrillator: used to deliver an electric shock to the heart in cases of cardiac arrest to restore normal heart rhythm.

Cardiac drugs: medications used to treat heart-related emergencies, such as epinephrine and adenosine.

Airway equipment: including endotracheal tubes, suction catheters, and masks.

IV supplies: including fluids, tubing, and medications that can be administered intravenously.

Other emergency equipment: such as syringes, needles, scissors, and tape.

The contents of a crash cart may vary depending on the specific needs of the patient and the hospital or healthcare facility where it is being used. Crash carts are usually located in accessible areas, such as near the emergency department, intensive care unit, or operating rooms, to ensure quick access in the event of an emergency.
