An electric wheelchair is a motorized mobility device designed for people with mobility impairments who have difficulty walking or moving around independently. Electric wheelchairs use an electric motor to propel the chair and are controlled by a joystick or other device mounted on the armrest of the chair. The joystick allows the user to move the wheelchair forwards, backwards, and turn in any direction, providing greater freedom and independence than a manual wheelchair.

Electric wheelchairs typically have rechargeable batteries that power the motor and enable the chair to be used for longer periods of time without needing to be recharged. They also often have additional features, such as adjustable seat heights, leg rests, and armrests for added comfort and convenience.

Electric wheelchairs are used by people with a wide range of mobility impairments, including those with spinal cord injuries, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, and other conditions affecting mobility. They are often prescribed by healthcare professionals and can be obtained through medical equipment providers.
